HOT ! Second Shift

Second Shift began with a pair of vintage French workwear pants in heavy cotton, and what attracted me was the original darns and repairs in a mixture of blues. I left the earlier repairs visible and added a some of my own where the cloth needed reinforcement. All of the stitches you see on the outside were sewn either by the original repairer or by me.

One side carries most of the repairs. The other is plainer, with just a couple of small enhancements.

For this pillow, I wanted it to feel compact and substantial. The cover itself measures 13\" × 13\", and with the feather insert it settles into a depth of about 4\".

I backed the vintage French workwear with new heavyweight cotton canvas for reinforcement and finished the inside edges with overlocking stitches to help prevent fraying. It closes with a zipper.

It’s in beautifully distressed condition.
