A poetic voyage to Stockholm’s old city — a pastel maze of cobblestones, narrow alleys, and centuries of legend. Astier de Villatte’s Stockholm Incense draws inspiration from the famed Swedish Bitters Elixir, once gifted by King Gustav II to his warriors for strength and invincibility. The fragrance is an intoxicating blend of wild plants and spice: clary sage, vetiver, myrrh, clove, lavandin, petitgrain, and bright orange. Designed with Françoise Caron, it’s a scent that feels herbal, ancient, and quietly powerful — as if drawn from an apothecary’s secret cabinet.

Each incense stick is meticulously crafted on the Japanese island of Awaji, home to the world’s finest incense tradition. For over a thousand years, Master Koh-shis have perfected the art: blending pure natural materials, kneading the aromatic dough by hand, cutting it into slender ribbons, then drying it in the west wind. This slow, ancestral method gives Stockholm Incense its unparalleled clarity and depth.
