Traditionally, gels have been composed of a simple mixture of water, carbohydrates, and added flavors and preservatives. However, the GEL 100 breaks this mold. It utilizes a biopolymer matrix that combines fructose and glucose in a 0.8:1 ratio, allowing for an intake of up to 100 grams of carbohydrates per hour. Unlike their drink mix, which relies on the acidity of the stomach to create a hydrogel, the Maurten Gel 100 already contains this unique technology, making it easily transportable to the intestine for efficient absorption of water, salt, and carbohydrates.

 

When it comes to taste, Maurten has it right. Other gels are known for being extremely sweet, syrupy or even chemical tasting. Often times, the taste is so bad that it\'s hard to get them down without cringing or maybe gagging.
