Miyazome
Towards the end of the Edo period, Moka cotton (cotton fabric woven in present-day Moka City) became popular, and dye artisans gathered along the Tagawa River to dye hanten and other items. Later, a technique called chusen was developed, and yukata and hand towels were carefully dyed one by one. The dyed fabrics that flourished around the Tagawa River that flows through Utsunomiya were collectively named \"Miyazome.\"
