When we arrived at Pond #1, the light was so special, I couldn’t wait to start capturing the little creatures around me. What a surprise it turned out to be! Over two nights and three days, I photographed 11 species—9 of them new to me.

That first morning, I found myself surrounded by deer and a couple of ring-necked ducks. They were absolutely adorable, swimming around the pond, enjoying the calm weather. The way the light hit them, the reflection on the water—it felt like a gift from God. I could feel the peace of that moment all around me.
