Sourced directly from Uji, Kyoto, Japan—the birthplace and most celebrated region for authentic Japanese matcha—our organic 2nd grade matcha delivers a true taste of Japan’s centuries-old tea tradition. Uji in Kyoto Prefecture is famous for its rich volcanic soil, misty hills, and clean river water. For over 800 years, it has been the best place for making premium matcha.
Harvested from early May to June, this matcha comes from young, shade-grown tea leaves. These leaves are hand-picked and slowly ground into a fine, bright green powder. These traditional ways of growing and processing keep the nutrients and bright color that Uji matcha is known for.
