Awaken is a single cultivar Saemidori matcha grown by Atsushi-san in Yame, Fukuoka. A silky mouthfeel carries a gentle green sweetness across the palate, while a subtle almond-like aroma emerges as it is whisked, lending the cup a soft warmth that feels both comforting and quietly refined.

This matcha reflects Atsushi-san’s thoughtful philosophy of cultivation. Rather than simply preserving established methods, he closely observes the tea plants, the climate, and the soil conditions throughout the season. His approach balances respect for tradition with a willingness to adapt, allowing the leaves to express flavors that can only emerge from that specific field, in that particular year.

Even within the same region and cultivar, each producer reveals a distinct expression of the tea. While our other Saemidori from Yame is known for its chocolate-like depth, this particular matcha offers a different interpretation of the cultivar.
