Ashwagandha

One of the most important Ayurvedic herbs, ashwagandha root has been used for over 3,000 years to relieve stress, increase energy & improve concentration. In Sanskrit, its name translates to “smell of the horse” which refers to its unique smell & its ability to increase strength. It is classified as an adaptogen, which means that it helps the body & mind to cope with stress, anxiety & even reduce cortisol levels. Many of its profound health benefits are due to its high concentration of withanolides, which have been shown to combat inflammation & tumor growth. This miracle root has even been shown to fight cancerous cells & impede the growth of new cancer cells. Ashwagandha is also packed with antioxidants which allow it to successfully fight free-radical damage.

Shatavari

Shatavari may very well be the “Queen of Ayurvedic Herbs” and she is the more cooling, feminine counterpart to ashwagandha. Shatavari literally means “one hundred roots” but it also translates to “the woman with one hundred husbands”. Kind of a crazy concept, but there is a reason for this. Shatavari has special benefits for the female reproductive system, strengthening it to such a high degree that one may ideally be able to have a hundred husbands if she chose to! It is an adaptogen, meaning it rejuvenates the body & mind, restoring balance to both the nervous & immune systems. Shatavari has strength, power, wisdom & endless love to share with all she meets. Shatavari is anti-inflammatory, thanks to its cooling properties & also is a demulcent, bringing moisture into the skin & body. 

Licorice

Calming to the mind & nurturing to the spirit, licorice is considered a sattvic or harmonious herb in Ayurveda. This sweet-tasting root provides strength & moisture to the mucous membranes of the body; thus, providing hydration from the inside out. According to Dr. Frawley, licorice also nourishes the brain, increases cerebrospinal & cranial fluid & works as an effective expectorant. Lastly, this potent root improves voice, vision, hair & complexion.   

Flaxseed

Flaxseed is one of the oldest fiber crops & has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. Flaxseed is a rich source of healthy fat, antioxidants, protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals & omega-3\'s. We use flaxseed in our hydrate blend tea for its demulcent quality, which supports the body in retaining moisture & absorbing nutrients.
