HOT ! Earth Dragon Pendant

Earth Dragon Pendant in Sterling Silver. This piece is inspired by my love of Fantasy novels and the worlds created in them. Each and every piece of jewelry I design and create has special significance to me, This design was especially meaningful to me because it was conceptualized and created in a time when my store was starting to gain attention and I felt like my art was finally reaching people. In many ways this piece has given me a renewed passion for pursuing my career as an artist and a jeweler.

This design is a solid sterling silver dragon head. The piece of jewelry begins its life as a concept, that I then bring to life using a digital sculpting program. In this part of the process I give the piece its form, shaping everything from the shape of the head down to the scales. The I use the lost wax casting method to recreate the design in silver. After that step I add the ring for the chain to side through, add additional texture, polish the piece and apply an oxidizing agent to highlight the details.
