An exceptional mid-19th century French chaise lounge from the Napoleon III period, showcasing clean lines, exquisite detailing, and a commanding yet refined presence. Sourced in Paris, this piece is handcrafted from solid walnut and rests on classic turned legs with square block joints—hallmarks of Second Empire style. The back features a subtly arched top rail with inset paneling and brass nailhead trim framing the newly upholstered dark blue velvet. The scrolled arms are carved with soft volutes and supported by baluster-form supports that echo the architectural leg design. Fully restored, the chaise has undergone complete structural reinforcement, including new springs and padding for supportive comfort. The upholstery—a deep, velvety blue—is luxurious to the touch and offers a moody, modern counterpoint to the warm patina of the wood. Nailhead trim in an antique brass finish runs along the edges, adding a tailored finish. Perfect for a reading nook, bedroom corner, or dramatic entry vignette, this chaise offers both visual impact and everyday comfort.
