This stunning and rare mid-century modern lounge chair and ottoman set was designed by American designer Kipp Stewart for Directional Industries circa the 1960s. The armchair and ottoman feature a beautifully sculpted walnut frame while the armrests of the lounge chair are accented with planks of inlaid Brazilian rosewood. This chair is elegantly designed with the high back seat appearing to float within the minimal frame. The exposed pegged finger joints further elevate the chair. The set has been newly upholstered in luxurious silvery celadon velvet. The ottoman measures 26\" x 26\" x 16\" ht.
Mid-Century Modern designer Kipp Stewart rose to fame for his simple use of materials and his silhouettes. He designed collections for Drexel furniture and Directional along with design legend Milo Baughman between the years of 1963 and 1968.
This set has been refinished and newly upholstered.
