Vtg Japanese Wooden Kokeshi Doll

This vintage Japanese wooden kokeshi doll has a classic design (round head, cylindrical body). The body is straight with brown bands on the top and bottom. The shoulder is tapered with a thin neck and a wobbly head.  It is painted with a Japanese poem, Waka, and its scenery with a pagoda, deer, trees, and a distant mountain. The facial expression is calm , eyes closed, and the tufts of hair with blue and white ribbons are painted. It has been brushed with a clear lacquer coating to give it shine.Kokeshi dolls are traditional toys, figurines, and charms crafted from wood that are an excellent decorative representation of Japanese craftsmanship and traditional culture.

• Poem: 奥山に紅葉ふみわけなく鹿の声きく時ぞ秋はかなしき okuyamani momijifumiwake nakushikano koekikutokizo akihakanashiki  I\'m listening to a stag calling a doe in the deep of mountains with fallen red leaves on the ground. That situation makes me feel autumn is particularly sad.
