Jørgen Bo and Vilhelm Wohlert for P. Jeppesens Møbelfabrik, ‘Louisiana’ dining chair, oak, suede, Denmark, 1958.The ‘Louisiana’ chair was initially created for the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, Denmark, by the Danish architects Jørgen Bo and Vilhelm Wohlert. Inside the modern building complex the chairs were supposed to serve as functional chairs for events. Therefore, Bo and Wohlert had a comfortable chair in mind that is easily stackable. The round seat with off-white suede upholstery and a curved backrest provide comfort.Jørgen Bo (1919-1999) first studied at the School of Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts until 1941 and in 1960 was appointed as a professor. Together with Vilhelm Wohlert, Jørgen Bo designed multiple projects like the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, Denmark. Vilhelm Wohlert (1920-2007) studied at the School of Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts under Kaare Klint. From 1968 until 1986, he was employed there as a professor of architecture. Together with Jørgen Bo Wohlert designed multiple projects like the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, Denmark. Also important was his work as an independent architect where he accomplished important renovations and designed churches.Please note that the fabric is in good, used condition with signs of age and use, including stains. Reupholstery is possible before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
