The Buddy Optical Sorbonne Glasses embody a balance of intellectual elegance and vintage-inspired design, handcrafted in Sabae, Fukui Prefecture—Japan’s most renowned center for eyewear production.
Inspired by the prestigious Sorbonne University in France, this model features a distinctive rounded-square silhouette paired with a classic keyhole bridge, creating a timeless and sophisticated look. The ecru acetate frame adds a modern, understated touch, making the design both versatile and unique.
The lenses come in a green (Brescia) tint, offering a natural visual experience that reduces glare while maintaining clarity. Ideal for overcast or moderately sunny conditions, they provide excellent everyday usability, including indoor environments.
Crafted from high-quality cellulose acetate, the frame ensures durability, flexibility, and long-lasting comfort. Designed by Gen Ikehara, each pair reflects Buddy Optical’s philosophy—blending classic references with contemporary refinement.
One Size:
• Lens Width: 46 mm• Lens Height: 40 mm• Frame Width: 145 mm• Bridge: 25 mm• Temple Length: 140 mm
Fit Notes: The Sorbonne model is produced in one size only. To get an idea of how it will fit, you can compare it with a pair of glasses you already own.
If you already have a pair of eyeglasses at home, you’re one step ahead. In most cases, you’ll find a series of numbers on the inside of the frame that looks like this: 52 22 145. The size information can usually be found on the inner side of the temple, bridge, or ear piece.
What do these numbers mean?It’s simple:• 52 mm – lens width• 22 mm – bridge width• 145 mm – temple length
If your glasses don’t have these measurements, you can easily measure them yourself using a tape measure. Once you have the dimensions, compare them with our size chart. If they’re similar, you’re good to go—it should be the right fit for you.
