The piece fastens with a slide clasp, and a safety chain has been added for security. The clasp\'s tongue is stamped \"9ct\" and bears Murrle Bennet\'s maker\'s mark. Circa 1900.

Murrle Bennett specialized in finely crafted Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts jewelry. The London company was founded in 1884 by Ernest Murrle and JB Bennett. They were active until 1914.
