Spectacular Limited Edition cuff bracelet set with a hand-gathered Iona ‘painted’ pebble, intricately patterned by the island’s geology through time, each piece as unique as an ancient painting of the landscape itself. 

This cuff represents the Ì Mo Chridhe vision of rekindling the Ritchies’ legacy through a contemporary lens at the heart and soul of Celtic Art revival. The design weaves together key elements from the Ritchies’ beautiful silver spoon master patterns - including their acanthus leaves, Peace to Thee and dove icons - into a fresh reimagining. 

Maeve was inspired by a visit to renowned Scottish Art historian and author Professor Murdo Macdonald at the very beginning of the Ì Mo Chridhe collection, seeking to understand how to reconnect this reimagining of the Ritchies’ legacy to the unbroken line of the wider Celtic Art context, and its revival. Murdo shared a number of important books and historic references with Maeve, including a book of West Highland sculpture with a beautiful gold and green embossed cover, featuring a Scottish claymore framed by Celtic interlacing. This book inspired the beginning of this cuff design.

The cuff is named for Tobar na h-Aoise, the natural rock pool and spring known as the Well of Age or Well of Eternal Youth, found atop Iona’s highest hill, Dun Ì. Maeve’s mother, celebrated Scottish poet Valerie Gillies, author of The Spring Teller and Cream of the Well poetry books on Scottish and Irish healing springs, explained the importance of this magical place: natural springs found under running water or atop mountains are the most rare and significant, as they must overcome extreme geology or gravity to flow abundantly in these places. 

Each cuff is made to order in Small (55cm diameter), Medium (60cm diameter) or Large (65cm diameter) wrist sizes. Available in Iona Blackstone or Iona Greenstone. You can also supply your own pebble for us to set upon request, please contact us.
