A beautiful late Victorian Continental European embossed velvet purse with sterling silver frame, with English assay marks for London, 1901, Elly Isaac Miller. Miller specialised in imported items, particularly fine small goods, which this particular purse with its assay mark denoting foreign import is a lovely example of.
The velvet is soft and lush, and the fabric itself sturdy. The frame is beautifully wrought with repousse details to the front and cherubs to the frame as well as the handle, all of which is sterling silver. A truly lovely piece and in excellent antique condition, particularly for antique velvet.
Price marked at $750 AUD.
Measurements: 22cm across, 23cm to top of frame, 33cm to top of handle.
Excellent antique condition; lion passant mark crisp and clear to frame, as well as several links. Assay marks to back crisp and well-struck.
