Detailed information on Crystal \"Garland\" Whiskey Glasses by Whitefriars of London | Vintage 1960s British Barware (Set of 2)

For the man of style … a handsome pair of vintage cut crystal tumblers in the “Garland” pattern by Whitefriars of London, dating to the 1960s. Each glass features deep cross-hatched cuts extending fully to the base, a trio of radiating vertical flutes, and a classic star-cut underside. The subtly rounded barrel-shaped form is beautifully weighted and sits comfortably in the hand, holding a generous 7 ounces.  Ideal for a gentleman’s favorite whiskey or an old-fashioned, they’d make a distinctive and versatile addition to a drinks tray or bar cart.

Founded in the 17th century, Whitefriars was one of Britain’s oldest and most respected glassworks. While their bold textured vases of the 1960s remain iconic, the firm also produced finely cut lead crystal patterns like Garland in more limited runs. The company ceased operations in 1980, and its barware is now increasingly scarce on the vintage market.

Dimensions: 3-1/2” x 2-3/4” (opening) x 2” (base)Weight: (Per Glass) 8.8 oz.

Condition notes: Excellent vintage condition overall. All glasses are free of chips, cracks, or nicks, with surfaces remaining clear and reflective. Deep cross-hatched and vertical fan cuts are crisp and well defined, with no loss of clarity or edge. Rims are straight-cut and smooth to the touch. Each glass retains a classic star-cut underside with minor surface wear to the base consistent with gentle use.  One glass shows a small, naturally occurring air bubble near the rim, visible on close inspection—typical of crystal manufacture and not affecting use or appearance.  No maker’s marks present.  Glasses have been gently cleaned and are ready for use or display. Recommended for hand-wash only. See photos for further detail and contact the shop with any questions prior to purchase. Other items in photos not included.

All items are hand-wrapped and packed with care for secure delivery. We offer flat rate shipping via USPS Ground Advantage for $10, or USPS Priority Mail for $15. Orders over $100 (not including taxes) ship free via USPS Priority Mail — any shipping charges for orders over $100 will be refunded after checkout. We pack with safety and care using recycled and recyclable materials whenever possible.
