Circa 1980\'s. A unique statement piece sourced from a small village neighbouring Ouarzazate in Morocco. Featuring a bright red field, made from naturally dyed wool - a rare practice in Morocco today. The design of this piece is unique and follows the classic two mirrored halves that Amazigh rugs are known for. The field featured two large lozenges, filled with traditional symbols, similar but not identical. A soft mustard border is framing the rug, giving it structure. You can tell by the freedom in the forms, colours and size, that this was a piece made then for leisure rather than commerce.Amazigh rugs are originally handmade by Amazigh women, who have learnt the skill of weaving from their mothers and grandmothers. Each piece is unique with a strong character that shows in the story they tell and the imperfections they proudly display, reminding us of the beauty of authenticity and slow patient craftsmanship.
