HOT ! French Gesso Finished Rococo Style Upholstered Style Foot Stool Antique Circa 1880\'s

Antique Latter 19th Century French Manufactured Foot Stool in the traditional oval style crafted in carved wood with gilded Gesso finish in the Baroque / Rococo style, the frame to the stool being detailed with Leaves to the shoulders of the scrolled cabriole legs and a swag gallery surround with raised dais accents to the installed silk upholstered cushion fitting which is finished with a Ruche silk skirt.

Overall in good condition for age, it being structurally sound throughout and there being no rot or worn, there are light signs of wear to the gesso finish as to be expected from age and previous use and there is heavy wear including laddering to the silk upholstered cushion all commensurate with age.

The Stool stands 18 cm tall and has a width and breadth of 35.5 cm and 29 cm respectively.

A handsome period foot stool, still perfectly useable with lots of character and a great decorators piece for the home.
