A vibrant French Art Deco necklace featuring melon-cut cobalt blue glass beads, clear faceted glass clusters and sparkling rhinestone rondelles. This is pure 1920s–30s glamour. Cobalt blue glass was a signature of French ateliers of the period, created using cobalt oxide to achieve that rich, electric blue beloved in Deco design. It offered the depth of a gemstone with the joyful brilliance of finely cut glass, glowing beautifully under light.
This style is closely associated with Louis Rousselet, one of Paris’s finest glass-bead makers. His ribbed “melon” beads became iconic in French jewellery of the 1920s–30s and were later embraced by early Chanel, whose ateliers often sourced beads from makers like Rousselet for their most chic bijoux fantaisie.
A striking, uplifting statement piece that sits elegantly on the neckline.
