HOT ! 18th Century N.W. Persian Heriz Design - Custom Carpet

Woven from the highest grade of Gazni wools, unbleached and natural dyes, this carpet was designed by myself almost thirsty years ago. I hand drew all my designs then, as I do now and after painstakingly drawing the outlines I coloured it in choosing the exact shades of the colours I wanted.

Madder root which comprises the majority of red natural dyes can form up to sixty shades of colour alone. Age of the madder root, how intense the dyes concentration was and how long the wools and dyes were boiled and matured, all effect the colour of the dyed yarns.

Our Dye Masters have all been respected, even venerated among the weavers and ourselves. Working with natural dyes is neither easy nor cheap. It is actually much more costly than chemical dyes and highly variable in its supply season to season.

But natural dyes, unbleached wools along with great design and competent technical weavings skills, form the basis of great carpets that age with grace and dignity. Carpets and rugs that perform like carpets from antiquity. Natural dyes carpets of this quality are less than 1% of all modern carpet production and modern carpet production is shrinking around the world about as fast as glaciers.
