Antique Persian Shekarlu Roomsize Rug! - circa 1880 / 9 x 6 ft / Hands down Shekarlu rugs are in a league of their own and are some of our favorites in terms of overall design. They are also so incredibly hard to find that it makes each one a true gem. This is a unique and beautiful example from the 1880 featuring a red ground with three blue center medallions and the classic white boarders. Its provenience comes from that of an anthropology professor who traveled the world in the mid 1920\'s collecting old world artifacts and textiles. This rug is from the Qashqai region of South West Persia One of the hallmarks of a Shekarlu rug is the unique white boarder design lined with colorful medallion motifs. Condition

This rug has beautiful wear and has a great combination of colors. With blues in the center three medallions and deep reds in the center ground. This rug is over 125 years old and is in good shape and beautifully worn. It has a few areas of wear along the edges and a small hole (pictured, please see photos)
