GlyMed Plus · Active Daily Cleanser
GlyMed Plus\'s preferred home care cleanser. A mild-active gel that gently exfoliates, controls acne-causing bacteria, and brightens skin — daily. Mandelic acid\'s larger molecular size makes it the gentlest AHA available, safe for all skin tones and types.
About This Cleanser
The GlyMed+ Idyllic Cleanser is GlyMed Plus\'s own preferred home care cleanser — which says everything. Mandelic acid is derived from bitter almonds and is unique among AHAs for its larger molecular size: it penetrates the skin more slowly, exfoliates more gently, and is far less likely to cause irritation or post-inflammatory pigmentation than glycolic or lactic acid. This makes it the ideal active for sensitive skin, darker skin tones, acne-prone skin, and anyone who wants consistent exfoliation without the risk. Chamomile, green tea, and comfrey root soothe and balance through the cleanse, while Panthenol and glycerin maintain hydration. The result: a clearer, brighter, more refined complexion that\'s prepped and primed for everything that follows.
Gentle Active Exfoliation
Mandelic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid derived from bitter almonds. Its larger molecular size compared to glycolic or lactic acid means slower, more controlled penetration — effective exfoliation with significantly lower risk of irritation, redness, or post-inflammatory pigmentation (PIH). This makes it uniquely safe for Fitzpatrick I–VI and for daily use.
Soothing & Brightening Botanicals
Active cleansers can be polarizing — but the botanical trio in Idyllic Cleanser ensures the mandelic acid works without redness or discomfort. Each ingredient is chosen to counterbalance the exfoliation with proven soothing, moisturizing, and anti-inflammatory support.
Hydration & Skin Prep
GlyMed Plus positions Idyllic Cleanser as the first step in their 4-step protocol because well-cleansed, lightly exfoliated skin absorbs subsequent actives more effectively. Panthenol and glycerin keep the barrier intact post-cleanse, so skin is primed — not stripped.

What is GlyMed+ Idyllic Cleanser with 3% Mandelic Acid used for?
It gently exfoliates, brightens, and improves skin texture while controlling acne-causing bacteria. Mandelic acid\'s larger molecular size makes it gentler than glycolic or lactic acid — ideal for sensitive skin and all skin tones. It also prepares skin for better absorption of subsequent steps.
Can it be used daily?
Yes. GlyMed Plus recommends beginning with once a day and increasing frequency as skin tolerance builds. It is safe for daily use for most skin types.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes. Mandelic acid penetrates more slowly than other AHAs, making it less likely to cause irritation or post-inflammatory pigmentation — ideal for sensitive skin and all Fitzpatrick skin tones (I–VI).
Will it help with dull or uneven skin?
Yes. Mandelic acid gently exfoliates and brightens while unclogging pores. Chamomile, green tea, and comfrey root reduce redness and soothe, resulting in a clearer, more even, and more radiant complexion over time.
Does it still work if I rinse it off?
Yes. The mandelic acid exfoliates and prepares the skin during contact — priming it for better absorption of the steps that follow in your GlyMed Plus regimen. GlyMed Plus recommends it as the foundation cleanser before their 4-step protocol.
Can it be used with other skincare products?
Yes. It layers well with serums, moisturizers, and professional treatments. GlyMed Plus recommends using it as the first cleanser step, unless double-cleansing — in which case use the Mega Purifying Cleanser first to remove makeup.
Ideal Candidates
Suitable for all skin tones and types. Pregnancy-safe. Apply SPF to treated areas during daytime use.
For external use only. Avoid eye area. Alpha hydroxy acids increase photosensitivity — apply broad-spectrum SPF to treated areas when used in the daytime. If significant irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a skincare professional. Individual results may vary.
