This Baluch prayer rug was handwoven during the second quarter of the 20th century in Western Afghanistan.
This field is composed of a directional prayer niche with a tree-of-life central motif that fills the camel mihrab. As the mihrab narrows boteh like shapes can be found at the top of the tree. The same motif can be found on the two smaller trees flanking the top of the mihrab. Navy, orange, purplish-brown, and ivory liven up the composition.
